About Us:

We are a music education charity called Live4Music (Registered Charity Number  1150636). We organise and deliver free high quality music events and workshops in state primary schools which have a high percentage of children from ethnic minorities, young people at risk of social exclusion, and children that speak English as a second language. Our events are delivered by eminent musicians with a proven track record of excellence in teaching. We believe the Arts, and music in particular, can enrich and have a profound effect on young people’s lives, their futures , the skills they develop and the people they become.

Our aims:
We deeply believe that music can inspire and engage, and can also develop a whole range of practical life-skills such as confidence, teamwork, leadership, and discipline which have a profound effect on young people’s lives.  We will:

Engage and inspire young people, their parents and the wider community through our events. We have found our format to be highly successful in engaging children and developing skills which positively impact their educational outcomes.

Deliver projects where young people have little or no access to music education, or where there are social or cost barriers to accessing live music. We select state schools by using our British Council volunteers' expertise.

Use music as a tool to foster participation, inclusion, team-working, leadership and confidence that can be transferred to all areas of learning.

Develop a sustainable relationship with partner schools so we can deliver future concerts to them as part of an ongoing programme.

Strongly encourage schools to invite parents/guardians and the wider community to take part in these events, so as to achieve maximum impact. We believe parental involvement is hugely important to continued interest and benefit.

Sustain the future of the programme by developing partnerships with organisations that have similar goals.

Scale up our activity to develop more young audiences, and to involve these people and their parents and teachers in our regular music activities that we organise outside the classroom.

We also deliver free public events, and organise fundraising concerts on behalf of other charities.

Past Feedback:

'What a treat to have you visit our school last week! Both teachers and pupils were so impressed by the talented musicians and really enjoyed participating in the Flamenco dance and movement workshop. Here are some of the pupils' reactions and comments: " The lullaby was just so peaceful". "It made me think of a boat swaying on the ocean calmly" "The Flamenco workshop was awesome!" "It made me want to dance and never stop!" We continued talking about Flamenco in our Spanish lessons that day and even had a go at some more Flamenco dance steps and moves with the pupils coming up with their own performances. Thank you so much for such an enjoyable and inspiring day!'

The performance  gave a splendid insight into how music can inspire and engage.  It is so important that we give every opportunity to children to experience this’.

'We had a super time when Live4Music visited. The whole school presentation was enjoyable and at a perfect pitch for little and big! The KS2 workshop was fun and informative. We really enjoyed clapping and stamping! Having recorded the event we are now using the footage in Spanish lessons. Thank you!'

'Thank you so much for visiting our school. The music and dancing were fantastic and unlike anything that the children have seen before!

I have spoken to the teachers concerned and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. The first 20 minute section gave the children an insight into the different elements of flamenco, including the technical terms. The children learnt a lot in a short space of time.

The children really enjoyed the workshop section and benefited from participating in an art form from a different culture.'

The children have been telling me how much they enjoyed it and the teachers were also very positive about the afternoon. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to hear world-class musicians at first hand and close-up!’
